About Us
ThinkBright and Well, a service of the Western New York Public Broadcasting Corporation (WNED), is a multimedia platform to promote health literacy and empower individuals and communities to make positive lifestyle changes that lead to happier, healthier lives. Through the use of public media and community engagement, WNED-ThinkBright and Well is creating a replicable model for addressing the challenges of health and well-being faced at the individual, regional, national, and international levels.
LiveWell is a community engagement initiative of ThinkBright and Well promoting healthy lifestyles in Western New York. LiveWell is a two-year, collaborative project with the P2 Collaborative of Western New York and the University at Buffalo School of Public Health and Health Professions. The project is funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the John R. Oishei Foundation and Independent Health.
The goal of LiveWell is to address obesity through the promotion of healthy lifestyle choices. Project partners are employing a “ground up approach to community health organizing” that involves citizens of all ages in developing grassroots solutions. Adult and teen health leaders are designing and implementing projects that connect families, peers, and other community members with pertinent health and wellness information from ThinkBright and Well.
P2 Collaborative of Western New York
The P2 (Pursuing Perfection) Collaborative of Western New York is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the health of people in Western New York. They focus on educating and motivating people in Western New York to make lifestyle changes to prevent illness, and if ill, to help them become well again; ensuring that our community understands that they are partners in their health care, that there are guidelines based on expert opinions that they and their physicians can use together to manage their care; and ensuring that our community has access to health care and, when members of our community become ill, they receive the most effective and up to date care.
The University at Buffalo School of Public Health and Health Professions is evaluating the impact of the LiveWell Initiative. A multi-level evaluation model will provide data to inform the design of an effective outreach model that yields measurable outcomes, particularly changes in attitudes and behaviors.
